  Conservation Commission
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Planning for and acquisition of open space for conservation and passive recreation.
  • Management and protection of town-owned conservation lands and conservation restrictions.
  • Administration of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (MGL C. 131 S. 40).
  • Advocacy for responsible management and sustainable use of the Town's natural resources.
Contact the Conservation Commission to:
  • Ask questions about wetlands permitting (e.g., Do I need a permit to build an addition?)
  • Report a possible wetlands violation (e.g., Cutting trees in a wetland, bulldozing in a wetland, etc.). Reports can be made anonomously.
  • Ask general questions about wetlands, wildlife, and protecting open space.
  • Ask questions or raise concerns about town-owned conservation lands (e.g., Pout Pond, Legg Farm)
