Please call the Senior Center at 508-278-8622 to reserve your meal and also to arrange for transportation to lunch and for medical appointments.

Van transportation begins at 10:30 am each day. Please check with the Senior Center, Uxbridge Cable Station or the Council on Aging website for the Lunch Menu.

The Senior Center is a drop off site for the People First Food Pantry.  Donations are accepted Monday through friday from 9am-4pm.

SENIOR CENTER WISH LIST – The Senior Center would greatly appreciate any donations of all purpose spray cleaner for the tables, sugar and Splenda packets, foam cups, stirrers, cascade for the dishwasher, dish detergent, sponges, napkins, paper towels and decaf and regular coffee.  These things are not covered in the budget. We thank you very much for your help.
If you would like to donate a $5 (or more) gift card for our Baggy Tuesday game it would be greatly appreciated. Seniors can use gift cards from Hannaford’s, CVS, Walmart  or Dunkin Donuts for food and medications.

DID YOU KNOW THAT WE TAKE SENIORS ON SHOPPING TRIPS TO HANNAFORDS AND WALMART?  Every Tuesday morning starting at 8:30am pick-up begins for the weekly trip to Hannaford’s.  You can go to Wal-Mart on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.  Pick-up for Wal-Mart begins at 12:30pm.  Please call the Senior Center at 508-278-8622 to sign up for these trips.

UXBRIDGE SENIOR CENTER WILL BE CLOSED AND NO LUNCHES WILL BE SERVED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:
Monday,           November 11, 2013 – Veterans Day
Wednesday,    November 27, 2013 -  Half Day before Thanksgiving
Thursday,        November 28, 2013 – Thanksgiving
Friday,             November 29, 2013 – Day after Thanksgiving

MOBILE OPTICAL SHOP COMING TO UXBRIDGE – Lisa Trainor, the optician from Anywhere Optical will be at the Uxbridge Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month starting on November 6, 2013 from 11:30am – 12:30pm discuss the services they provide.

COMPUTER CLASSES
Free classes on computers, I phones, I pads, tablets, etc
are meeting every Thursday  from 3:00 to 4:00pm. They are taught by students from Nipmuc High School. Please call the Senior center at 508-278-8622 to register.

WORCESTER SHERIFF EVANGELIDIS will be at the Uxbridge Senior Center on Friday, November 1, 2013, from 11:30am – 12:30pm.  He will talk about senior safety and will introduce the new Iris Scanner that is a non-invasive from of identification.

FILE OF LIFE UPDATE – Cheryl Either, the Senior Center Liaison from the Fire Department will be here on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 11:30am-12:30pm with some of the other fireman to help Seniors update their File of Life information. Seniors are asked to bring their medications in a paper bag.

REFLECTIONS OF A LIFE, ‘’ MY GIFT TO YOU” - On Thursday, November 7, from 11:30am – 12:30pm, Laura Black Silver, a caregiver specialist from Tri-Valley, INC will present “MY GIFT TO YOU”.  Are you considering the legacy you want to leave to your children?   It need not be financial. The most valuable legacies can be personal memoirs, special recipes, picture albums, or cherished belongings. Join us to discuss your personal legacies and play the “Lifestories” game.
VETERAN’S DAY PARADE - Sunday, November 10th is the Uxbridge Veteran’s Day Parade.  The Senior Center Lunch Van will be carrying any veteran that may be unable to walk the parade route.  Please call the Center at 508-278-8622
to reserve your seat and arrange for pick up.

DEBBIE BOUCHER FROM ATRIA DRAPER PLACE will be with us on Tuesday, November 12, from 11:30am-12:30pm, to discuss the care of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia related disorders. This program is for the caregivers who feel that they may be burning out under the stress of being a caregiver.  Come join others who understand what you are experiencing.  There should be no reason for anyone to travel this journey alone.

MEDICARE PART D FOR 2014 – On Friday, November 15th,  from 11:30am-12:30pm, Paula Evans from Mass Med Line, a Pharmacy Outreach Program will be at the center to discuss your medications and Medicare part D for 2014.  Bring your medications if you have questions.

THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION!  Again this year the Uxbridge Elderly Connection will sponsor our annual Thanksgiving meal.  There will be turkey and all the trimmings.  Register early to save your seat!

Page Turners with Jane Granatino, Library Director.- If you like to talk about books, good and bad, join us. Share some of your favorite reads, talk about what makes a classic and discover new authors, this book discussion is for You! New members are always welcome, just stop by!

Dr. Biancomano will be at the Senior Center on Monday November 18th for podiatry appointments.  The first appointment is at 8:30am.  Please call 278-8622 to make your appointment.

A REALLY BIG THANK YOU TO NOR’EASTER ROOFING AND LESPERANCE & SONS SEAMLESS GUTTERS for donating the materials and their time to put a new roof and rain gutters on the front of the Senior Center.  It looks so good and we really do appreciate all that they have done for us.

WAL MART SHOPPING- Because of the Thanksgiving Holiday the Walmart shopping will be on the first and third Thursdays  (the 7th and 21st) of November.
