Senior Center temporarily closed
If you have any further questions you can reach the Senior Center Director @ (508) 208-1197
The 100 year old, three story Bank Building at 32 S. Main St., next to the Senior Center caught fire on Thursday and destroyed this icon of downtown Uxbridge. The Fire Chief and the Fire Marshall have declared the building now unstable and have ordered the Senior Center closed because of its proximity to a potential collapse of the burned out building. There is an especially good account of the fire and the status of the area at Providence, RI NBC News site.
Because the Senior Center is temporarily closed, services will be disrupted. Below is a list of services and how they will be affected during the closing.
1. Medical Transportation will continue in a near normal manner. All previously booked
appointments will be continued. New appointments will not be booked until the Center
2. No luncheon meals until the Senior Center reopens.
3. All convenience trips to Walmart and Hannafords are discontinued until the Center reopens.
4. All services and events that normally take place in the Senior Center building are discontinued
until further notice.
Monitor the COA website for further information on reopening.
