The following licenses fall under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen.  Please contact the Board of Selectmen's Office at (508) 278-8600, Ext. 7 with any questions. 

Alcohol License
Alcoholic beverages retail licenses are distinguished by where a patron may consume the beverages purchased, i.e. off-premises or on-premises. Off-premises licenses include package stores, convenience stores, and supermarkets. There are 5 types of on-premises alcoholic beverages licenses: restaurants, clubs/veterans club, hotels, taverns, and general on premises.  Retail alcoholic beverages licenses fall into five categories: all alcoholic beverages licenses, wine and malt beverages licenses, wine beverages licenses, malt beverage licenses, and wine and malt with cordials and liqueurs beverages licenses. The number of licenses issued in Uxbridge are regulated under M.G.L. Chapter 138, §17. Contact the Board of Selectmen’s Office for availability. To apply for a new license or amend an existing please, the please go to the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission Website.  Fill out the appropriate application and pay the online fee and bring all required ABCC paperwork (listed on the ABCC checklist) to the Board of Selectmen’s Office.  Additionally, the Town has their own checklist and items for submittal.  Both the ABCC checklist and required paperwork and the Town’s checklist and required paperwork must be submitted at the same time to the Town.  Incomplete packages will not be accepted.  If you have any questions, please contact the Board of Selectmen's office at 508-278-8600, Ext. 7.  Link to the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. 
Automatic Amusement License  M.G.L, Chapter 140, §177A
An Automatic Amusement Device shall be construed as meaning any mechanism whereby, upon the deposit therein of a coin or token, any apparatus is released or set in motion or put in a position where it may be set in motion for the purpose of playing any game involving, in whole or in part, the skill of the player, including, but not exclusively, such devices as are commonly known as pinball machines including free play pinball machines, but not including slot machines as defined in Chapter 23K." Video games also fall under this license.  NOTE: Pool Tables are licensed under a Pool Table License.
Auto Dealer License Class I-III License   M.G.L., Chapter 140, §57, 58, 59 
Class 1. Any person who is a recognized agent of a motor vehicle manufacturer or a seller of motor vehicles made by such manufacturer whose authority to sell the same is created by a written contract with such manufacturer or with some person authorized in writing by such manufacturer to enter into such contract, and whose principal business is the sale of new motor vehicles, the purchase and sale of second hand motor vehicles being incidental or secondary thereto, may be granted an agent's or a seller's license; provided, that with respect to second hand motor vehicles purchased for the purpose of sale or exchange and not taken in trade for new motor vehicles, such dealer shall be subject to all provisions of this chapter applicable to holders of licenses of Class 2, except subsection (c), and to rules and regulations made under those provisions; and provided further, that such dealer maintains or demonstrates access to repair facilities sufficient to enable him to satisfy the warranty repair obligations imposed by section 7N 1/4 of chapter 90, and shall remain liable for all warranty repairs made and other obligations imposed by said section 7N 1/4 of said chapter 90.
Class II:  Any person who principal business is the buying or selling of second-hand motor vehicles may be granted a used car dealer's license.  A person whose principal business is the buying or selling of second hand motor vehicles, a person who purchases and displays second hand motor vehicles for resale in retail transactions, and any other person who displays second hand motor vehicles not owned by him pursuant to an agreement in which he receives compensation, whether solely for displaying the vehicles, upon the sale of each vehicle, or otherwise, may be granted a used car dealer's license and shall be subject to the conditions as outlined in M.G.L. c140(§58).
Requirements -  $25,000 Bond.  Per M.G.L. c140(§58), the license holder must obtain a bond, or equivalent proof of financial responsibility, executed by a surety company authorized by the insurance department to transact business in the Commonwealth. Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Company License: Per M.G.L. c255B, any dealership that hold retail installment contracts must be licensed as a motor vehicle sales finance companies by the Division of Banks. These licensing requirements apply anytime the purchase of a vehicle is financed in two or more installments, regardless of whether interest is charged on the loan. Repair Facility Association  Per MGL c90(7N1/4), proof of association with a repair facility in the form of a contract, if repair work is not done by the seller. Zoning by-Law 6.2 - Unregistered Motor Vehicles.  Not more than one unregistered motor vehicle or trailer which is unfit for use, permanently disabled or has been dismantled, or are otherwise inoperative, shall be stored, parked or placed upon any land in the Town for more than 30 days, unless such vehicle is kept within a building or is otherwise screened or located so that it cannot be seen from a public highway or from abutting property. Vehicles which are kept in an area properly approved for such storage by a licensed junk dealer or a licensed dealer in motor vehicles are exempted from these regulations. Farm vehicles are also exempt.   The Board of Selectmen meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.  All applications must be reviewed by other Boards/Committees/Departments.  
Class III:  Any person who's principal business is the buying of second hand motor vehicles for the purpose of remodeling, taking apart or rebuilding the same, or the buying or selling of parts of second-hand motor vehicles or tires, or the assembling of second-hand motor vehicle parts, may be granted a motor vehicle junk license. 
Common Victualler Restaurant License    M.G.L. Chapter 140, §2 
A Common Victualler License is required for any establishments that has the necessary implements for cooking, preparing, and serving food for strangers and travelers, and a place where you can consume food that has chairs, tables, or counters for sitting. 
Entertainment License   Massachusetts General Law ch. 140 sec. 181, sec. 183A
Operators that as usual business, offer to view, set up, set on foot, maintain or carry on a concert, dance, exhibition, cabaret or public show of any description, require a license issued by the Board of Selectmen.
Innholder License M.G.L, Chapter 140, §3, Chapter 140, §§ 22 - 32
Innholder Licenses are issued by the Uxbridge Board of Selectmen pursuant to and in accordance with M.G.L., Chapter 140, §§ 22 - 32

One Day Beer & Wine Special License   M.G. L, Chapter 138, §14 
Special Licenses to managers of indoor or outdoor activities. Local Licensing Authorities may issue special license for the sale of wine/or malt beverages to a responsible manager of any indoor or outdoor activity or enterprise (for profit or non-profit). Special licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages may be issued to non-profit organizations only. No person may be granted special licenses for more than a total of 30 days per calendar year and no special license will be granted to any person while his application for an annual license under Section 12 is pending before the licensing authorities. No more than one license can be issued for a premise at one time. Regulations can be found in 204 CMR 7.00 (see below).  Persons holding a special license must purchase alcoholic beverages from a licensed wholesaler / importer, manufacturer, farmer-winery, farmer brewery or special permit holder - click here for a list. A person holding a Section 14 license cannot purchase alcoholic beverages from a package store.  For the most recent list of authorized sources, go to the "One Day Permit" section of ABCC's Website under "Applying for a Special License or Permit". Applicants, please download the application and checklist below. Fill in the application, print, sign, then return to the Selectmen’s office along with all items from the checklist.  Please allow at least three weeks for processing. The Board of Selectmen granted the Town Manager approval of One Day Licenses.  All applications must be reviewed by other Boards/Committees/Departments.  The Office will call you when your License is ready for pickup. Once approved, the Local Licensing Authority shall notify ABCC of such approval in writing, no more than 10 days after approval.
Pawnshops, Secondhand & Precious Metals Dealer License   Uxbridge General Bylaws, Chapter 236
regulates the sale of secondhand articles by secondhand dealers, pawnbrokers, and precious metals dealers.
Trench Permit  M.G.L. Chapter 82A, (this is not a BOS permit - DPW Issued permit ....Questions call 508-278-8616)
Storage of Flammable, Combustible & Explosive Materials License:  M.G.L. Chapter 148, §13 & §9 
License for the storage of flammable or combustible fluids in quantities in excess of those allowed by regulation is granted by the local licensing authority after approval or disapproval by the Fire Chief, and after a public hearing.

 All licenses may take up to 3-4 weeks processing once submitted should any paperwork be missing.  Please allow as much time as possible.
