Main Street Initiative Facade Improvement Design Project

The Department of Economic Development & Community Planning (EDCP) is pleased to announce the selection of Easton Architects, of NYC, NY as the lead design firm for the Main Street Initiative Façade Improvement Design Project. The Project will focus on forty Main Street District buildings, each will bring their uniqueness to the process and the improvement design will feature elements that can be transferred to other buildings throughout the District.

The Main Street Initiative Façade Improvement Design Project Task Team, Holly Gallerani (Mendon Street Kitchen/Uxbridge First Night), Sarah Clarke (Main Street Initiative Planning Team). Ken O’Brien (Uxbridge Assessor), Benn Sherman (Uxbridge DPW) and Michael Gallerani (EDCP) has worked with the architect to select the buildings, and strategy for the project.

The architect will provide an architectural description of each subject building in its current state, façade improvement designs, rendering highlights, individual design renderings, and a cost analysis for implementation of each façade improvement.

“This is an important piece of our effort to re-imagine Uxbridge Main Street. The façade improvements would go a long ways toward establishing a refreshed sense of place and make a statement about who and what Uxbridge is and will become.

The goal is to bring together a comprehensive and consistent deign that shows how the individual properties interrelate and how they lend themselves to the greater theme” according to Michael Gallerani of the EDCP.

Funding for the Project was the result of an award from the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce in their efforts under the Regional Economic Development Organization (REDO) Grant Program.
