Volunteers Needed

The Uxbridge School Committee will be appointing members of the community to partake in their School Building Advisory Committee.

This committee will be putting together a strategic plan (including potential funding options) for maintenance/repairs of the three (3) Uxbridge Public School buildings based on the administration’s existing five (5) year capital plan, the UPS Facility Condition Assessment (October 2018), a new review of space needs, and any other information that the committee feels they need to complete their charge. If further studies or other resources are needed that have a financial component, the committee will make a request through the school committee. The project should secure the existing buildings from requiring major renovations for the next 10-15 years.

This committee will meet at least once a month or more often as they need to successfully complete their charge. The first meeting will have an organizational component where minimally a chairman and secretary will be elected, other positions can be added at the discretion of the advisory committee as they feel are needed.

Committee members will consist of 2 School Committee members, 3 Representatives (one from each of the schools, recommended by the Principal), and 3 Members of the Community. All the appointments will be made by the School Committee. The term of the appointment will be until final recommendations are made to the School Committee.

A detailed final report to the School Committee will be due by October 31, 2020 and a presentation of the findings will be made during the following School Committee meeting.

If you would like to be considered by the School Committee for this appointment or have any questions or concerns regarding this committee, please email Chair Jennifer Modica, at jmodica@uxbridge.k12.ma.us by January 30, 2020. Appointments will be made at the February 5, 2020 School Committee meeting.
